Endoscopic Assisted Surgery
What is an Endoscopic Assisted Surgery?
Endoscopic assisted surgery is a minimally invasive technique used for treating a variety of conditions within the cranial cavity. Through small incisions, the surgeon inserts a thin tube (endoscope) with a camera to visualise and treat the area of concern. This method reduces recovery time, the risk of infection, and scarring compared to traditional open surgeries.
Surgery aims to treat the following conditions:
- Cerebrovascular Abnormalities: Including aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, or other blood vessel issues in the brain.
- Hydrocephalus: Endoscopic procedures are often used to treat excessive fluid accumulation by creating pathways for drainage.
- Pituitary Tumours: Removal of tumours near or within the pituitary gland using endoscopic tools.
